Welcome to Gasthof Thaler** in Franzensfeste

The inn has been here since the 16th century and is distinguished by its long experience and the best hospitality. Comfortable rooms, excellent local and Italian cuisine and a cosy atmosphere throughout the house ensure that our guests feel at home. Located along the historic Brenner state road, it is easily accessible from the Sterzing and Brixen motorway exits.

Comfortable rooms and traditional cuisine

The elegantly renovated rooms with the use of natural Swiss pine wood offer a rejuvenating rest. A hearty breakfast with fresh home-grown products and dinner with typical local dishes, including trout and fresh meat, complete a genuine gastronomic experience. The hotel uses regional ingredients, including those from its own garden.

Activities and adventures for all

Gasthof Thaler is an ideal starting point for varied activities like hiking, mountain bike tours, rafting or cultural trips to Brixen, Bruneck and Bozen. In winter there are many opportunities for skiing, cross country skiing, ice skating, snowshoe hiking and sledging. Our house offers interesting packages for motorcyclists!

Historic hotel along the Brennero state road, clean and quiet rooms, simple but local cuisine, friendly owner helped by a young and cheerful 92-year-old (a smart and very talkative person) ... we will definitely return and it will be a pleasant surprise.....

Highly recommended! Late in the evening, while passing through, we got a room with parking for our motorcycle. Very friendly father and son hosts! We'd gladly return.

A truly unique inn, run with passion by a farming family for many generations. From the moment you arrive, you sense the authentic, family-friendly atmosphere that makes this place so special.

The room was beautifully furnished – the pine furniture provides plenty of comfort. The newly renovated bathroom offers modern comforts without losing its traditional charm.

The inn's culinary offerings are a true highlight: the dinner was outstanding, especially the meat from the farm – fresh, regional, and of noticeable quality. Even breakfast remains true to this philosophy: rustic, down-to-earth, and perfectly adequate.

The 92-year-old senior of the house is unforgettable; he not only jokes with guests but even enjoys serving them himself. An impressive example of genuine hospitality.

The entire building tells a long story that can be felt in every corner – a tradition that has been kept alive.

Overall, an authentic, family-friendly, and warm stay that you won't soon forget. Highly recommended!

We saw it by chance and simply asked about rooms. We were greeted warmly and immediately asked if we wanted to park our motorcycles in the garage. The rooms are quaint, with great old furniture. The bathrooms are newly renovated. Excellent food from their own cattle. The goulash is absolutely delicious.

Overnight stay during the bike tour, family-run, very friendly, beautiful rooms in a historic house, delicious dinner in the evening, and a good night's sleep. The breakfast with regional products tasted delicious.

One heck of a place! Very authentic people with authentic old charm to the place. Of you want luxury or comfort i will not recommend. If you dont mind a place which works all fine but a little rusty and has a nice country vibe to it, please go! Also nice location on the car path of the Dolomites. Owner is 1000% helpful and polite.

Really nice place to stay - Bike friendly!

Very good dinner + breakfast, friendly family run Guest House who were very accommodating for a last minute booking. A highlight of our trip.

Conveniently located on the main road, this inn offers beautiful pinewood rooms with a good breakfast and friendly service. The price for an overnight stay is also reasonable.
