The best canoeists of the world meet up in Meran in May to the International Canoe Slalom.
Of course, the spa resort, the botanic gardens and the promenades are the main attraction of the South Tyrolean spa town. Nevertheless, Meran offers much more – for instance for whitewater fans.
The city situated on the Passer River is one of the most important venues for national and international canoe events, thanks to an almost unspoiled torrent and a course in the middle of the city.
This year, the International Canoe Slalom takes place on 16 and 17 May. The highlights of the event are the finals on Sunday noon and the legendary after race party.
