Spacerując dziś po St. Lorenzen i okolicach, wielokrotnie mijasz pozostałości starożytnych murów i inne wykopaliska, które świadczą o długiej historii wioski i wciąż skrywają wiele tajemnic.

Obszar St. Lorenzen został zasiedlony już w epoce żelaza i rozwinął się w starożytności w dość ważną rzymską stację drogową, która nosiła nazwę Mansio Sebatum.

Każdy, kto chce dowiedzieć się więcej o tamtych czasach, plemieniu Saevates, historii osadnictwa w Val Pusteria i Rzymianach w St. Lorenzen, od końca września 2011 r. ma nowe miejsce, oprócz istniejącego Antykwariatu w ratuszu: Muzeum Mansio Sebatum w dawnym ratuszu na rynku.

Trzy piętra pełne historii

Na trzech piętrach zwiedzający są wysyłani w ekscytującą podróż w przeszłość, kiedy to małe miasteczko targowe w centrum Val Pusteria stało się miejscem odpoczynku dla Rzymian. Wiele artefaktów sprzed 2000 lat znalezionych bezpośrednio w San Lorenzo di Sebato i okolicy, a także multimedialne i interaktywne stacje, ilustrują historię w szczególny sposób.

Na 1. piętrze zwiedzający dowiedzą się wszystkiego o epoce żelaza, celtyckim królestwie Noricum, plemieniu Saevates i rzymskim budownictwie drogowym. Wystawa na 2. piętrze opowiada o życiu i pracy w Mansio Sebatum, podczas gdy na 3. piętrze prezentowany jest rzymski świat bogów, rytuałów pogrzebowych i popularnych wierzeń.
