Nie bez powodu ta mała wioska położona nad Bressanone uchodzi za niewielką, ale uroczą i niezwykle sympatyczną miejscowość wypoczynkową, która dotrzymuje swoich obietnic.

W przeszłości S. Andrea było typową osadą rozproszoną, składającą się z niewielkiego centrum miejscowości z kościołem parafialnym oraz kilku gospodarstw położonych daleko od siebie. Z biegiem czasu w niektórych osadach powstały własne, mniejsze kościoły i kaplice, które dzięki artystycznym freskom częściowo do dziś należą do atrakcji turystycznych wsi. Ze względu na swoje wspaniałe położenie panoramiczne wysoko nad miastem biskupim Bressanone, S. Andrea znane jest z jednej strony z fantastycznego widoku na Valle Isarco i otaczające go góry. Z drugiej strony okolica ta jest niezwykle nasłoneczniona, dzięki czemu z różnorodnej oferty sportowej i rekreacyjnej na łonie natury można zazwyczaj korzystać w promieniach słońca.
W końcu niezależnie od tego, czy czytamy na leżaku, wędrujemy, jeździmy na rowerze górskim lub zjazdowym, gramy w tenisa, czy jedziemy motocyklem drogą przełęczową na Würzjoch – przy promieniach słońca i wspaniałej dalekiej panoramie wszystko to sprawia podwójną radość.
W zimie w S. Andrea bynajmniej nie zapada zimowy sen, lecz wita się licznych narciarzy i snowboardzistów, których śnieżnobiałe stoki przyciągają niczym magią. W S. Andrea znajduje się bowiem dolna stacja ośrodka narciarskiego Plose, który oferuje około 40 kilometrów tras, w tym najdłuższy zjazd w Południowym Tyrolu. Do tego dochodzi funpark, kilka torów saneczkowych, różnorodne trasy skiturowe, przejażdżki saniami zaprzęgniętymi przez konie i oczywiście mnóstwo zimowej zabawy dla całej rodziny.
