Cross-country ski race in Gsies

This cross-country skiing event has been taking place in Gsies for over 40 years, always on the third weekend in February.
The race has always been a crowed puller – as regards spectators as well as athletes. Latter are hobby cross-country skiers or pros, coming from all over the world. The “Gsieser Tal Lauf” is the second-largest mass sports event in winter throughout Italy and the largest one in South Tyrol.
The participants can choose between the marathon distance with 42 km or a shorter one with 30 km, and there are races for skating as well as for classic style.
For the cross-country skiers there is prepared a special circuit with ascending parts, downhill sections and sprints. Start and finish are located in the village St. Martin.
