Muzeum Palais Mamming w Merano
Zbiory Muzeum Miejskiego Merano obejmują około 100 000 obiektów. Mieszczą się one w Palais Mamming od 2015 roku, a część z nich prezentowana jest zarówno na wystawie stałej, jak i na wystawach specjalnych. Wcześniej barokowy Palais Mamming został bogato odrestaurowany i rozbudowany o nowoczesny aneks w kierunku Küchelberg, tworząc przestronne muzeum i atrakcyjne miejsce na koncerty i odczyty.
Od znalezisk archeologicznych po współczesne dzieła sztuki
Podczas podróży od prehistorii do współczesności zwiedzający mogą podziwiać między innymi egipską mumię, maszynę do pisania należącą do Petera Mitterhofera i maskę pośmiertną Napoleona. Na szczególną uwagę zasługuje również historyczna kolekcja broni z Sudanu podarowana przez Rudolfa Carla Freiherra von Slatina. Austriacki oficer, który nosił również honorowy tytuł Paszy, spędził ostatnie lata swojego pełnego przygód życia głównie w Merano.

Architektura samego muzeum, w pobliżu kościoła parafialnego w Merano, również oferuje ekscytujące kontrasty: z jednej strony freski i sztukaterie w barokowych salach, a z drugiej oświetlona naga skalna ściana Küchelberg jako górskie zakończenie nowoczesnego skrzydła muzeum. Muzeum Palais Mamming idealnie nadaje się również na wernisaże, prezentacje książek i inne wydarzenia kulturalne. Budynek muzeum jest również połączony z najsłynniejszą promenadą w Merano, Tappeinerweg, za pomocą kamiennych i metalowych schodów.
