Gmina Campo di Trens w dolinie Valle Isarco powstała dopiero w latach dwudziestych XX wieku z połączenia wiosek Stelvio i Trens i posiada liczne frakcje.
Położone są one na wysokości ponad 900 metrów nad poziomem morza w dolinie Wipptal, na południe od Vipiteno, gdzie strumienie Val di Vizze i Ridanna wpadają do rzeki Eisack. Największe wioski położone są u podnóża zboczy doliny.
Campo di Trens jest dobrą bazą wypadową do pieszych i rowerowych wycieczek. Przyjazna rodzinom ścieżka rowerowa przez Valle Isarco prowadzi tuż obok malowniczych wiosek. Zimą niedaleko znajdują się tereny narciarskie Racines i Monte Cavallo.
